＜概要＞

90年代のポピュラー・ミュージック界では、シューゲイザーが席巻した。
シューゲイザーとは、自己肯定感皆無で、鬱屈した感情を露わにした音楽だ。
その閉塞感に風穴を開けたのが、
StereophonicsやManic Street Preachers ら「ウェルシュ・ロック」だった。
彼らは南ウェールズ出身。
讃美歌の合唱を伝統文化として持つ、かつて炭鉱が栄えた丘陵地帯で育った。
その音楽は一様にして、特異なまでの力強さを兼ね備え、時に反骨精神にあふれていた。
まさにシューゲイザーのアンチテーゼだったのである。
そして彼らの活躍を突破口に、様々なウェルシュ・ロックが世に放たれることとなる……。

ウェールズの守護聖人、聖デーヴィッドの祝日である

St. David's Day(３月１日)を記念して、

“歌の国”と呼ばれるウェールズの音楽ドキュメンタリーと

その背景を日本カムリ学会、ボレダ企画、関西ウェールズ協会の

代表の鼎談でご紹介します。

To celebrate this year’s St. David’s Day, the Kansai St. David’s Society, the Academic Society of Welsh Studies Japan, and the Boreda Kikaku holds an online event of showing a Welsh documentary film “Anorac” with a discussion by the representatives of these societies.

"To know Wales through a film and a discussion"

Date: March 4. from 19:50 to 22:30 (in Japan Standard Time)

“Anorac” is a road movie about Welsh Language music. BBC Radio One presenter Huw Stephens travels around Wales, meets and chats to some of his musical heroes, including Meic Stevens, Dave Datblygu and Gruff Rhys, and listens to some of the most unique music from current and well known Welsh language artists. (subtitled in English and in Japanese).

20:15 Film viewing (to 21:55）

22:00 Discussion in Japanese (for about 30minutes）

ウェールズと深く関わる方々をご紹介するオンラインインタビュー。

今回は1983年にウェールズの首都カーディフのアートセンターの写真科に在籍され、

以降、ご自身のテーマのひとつとしてウェールズのさまざまな面を撮影し、

作品制作を続けておられる写真家の落合英俊さんをお迎えします。

ご自身が撮影されたウェールズの写真を見せていただきながら、

ウェールズの風景および人物の被写体としての魅力や、それぞれの作品についてのエピソード、

写真撮影に込める想いなどを語っていただきます。

参加費無料。約2時間の予定です。

途中、チャットでの質問も自由になさってください。

聞くだけ見るだけ参加もOKです。

"Me and Wales" is an online interview event of the Kansai St. David's Society which introduces people who have strong ties with Wales.

This time's guest is Mr. Hidetoshi Ochiai, a professional photographer who studied photography at an art centre in Cardiff in 1983, and has continued taking photos of various aspects of Wales as one of his themes.

He will show us some of his works and let us know why he was fascinated with those scenes and people, episodes of them and his thoughts in taking photos.

The interview is conducted only in Japanese so it might be difficult for non-Japanese, but you can still enjoy the photos of your beloved country.

It takes about 2 hours and free of charge. You can ask questions to Mr. Ochiai during the interview through the chat feature. If you feel uncomfortable, you don't need to show yourself nor speak out. Just be a silent listener and enjoy Mr. Ochiai's talk.
