前名誉代表リンヴァ：デーヴィス追悼礼拝 Memorial service for Lynva Davies, our ex-honorary representative

6月に故国ウェールズで亡くなった前名誉代表の

リンヴァ・デーヴィスさんの追悼礼拝が、

彼女が勤めていた聖ミカエル国際学校の主催で、

彼女が通っていた神戸の聖ミカエル教会で行われました。

当協会からは代表と役員、会員が2人、参列しました。

添付の式次第をご覧いただくとお分かりになりますが、

ウェールズの聖歌『Brad of Heaven』をはじめ、

ウェールズ人作曲家のカール・ジェンキンスの『ハレルヤ』、

キリテ・カナワとキャサリン・ジェンキンスのデュエット、

最後にLynvaのお父さんと弟さんも団員だった南ウェールズの

ブラスバンド「Cory Band」の演奏が流れ、

とてもウェールズらしさにあふれた礼拝でした。

お祈りの言葉も特別にLynvaのために作られたもので、

感激しました。

学校の同窓会の代表の方がLynvaの学校での様子を、

牧師さまが彼女の信仰心を、そして関西ウェールズ協会は

彼女のイベントでのウェールズ紹介の様子をお話ししました。

おたがいに、これまで知らなかったLynvaの一面を

知ることができ、よかったです。

Lynvaも空の上から、礼拝を見守りながら、

心から喜んでくれたことと思います。

The memorial service for Lynva Davies,

the former Honorary Representative of the Kansai St. David's Society, was held at St. Michael's Cathedral in Kobe, which she attended regularly, organized by St Michael's International School, where she worked.

From the Kansai St. David's Society, the current representative, a committee member and 2 other members attended.

There was so much Welshness to the service; the opening song was "Bread of Heaven", a Welsh hymn, and we also heard "Hallelujah" by Welsh composer Carl Jenkins, a duet by Kiri Te Kanawa and Katherine Jenkins, and at the end of the service, finally, brass band music by the Cory Band in South Wales of which Lynva's father and brother were also members. The prayers were written specially for Lynva and were very moving.

A representative of the school's alumni association spoke about Lynva's time at school, the vicar spoke about her faith, and the current representative of the Kansai St. David's Society spoke about Lynva's enthusiasm for introducing Wales to the general public. It was good for all of us to see other sides of Lynva that we didn't know before.
Lynva must have been very happy to watch over the service from the sky.
