関西ウェールズ協会は、
ウェールズ人、ウェールズ系の人、ウェールズ在住経験者、
そして国籍を問わずウェールズという国、その文化およびウェールズ語に
深い興味と関心がある人のための友好団体です。
在大阪英国総領事館にLoyal Societyのひとつとして認定・登録されています。
英語の名称はKansai St David's Society, Japanですが、
ウェールズの守護聖人であるSt Davidとウェールズとの関係が
日本ではわかりにくいため、
日本語では『関西ウェールズ協会』と称しています。
また、ウェールズ語ではCymdeithas Dewi Sant Siapan と表記しますので、
その略語から“関西ＣＤＳ”とも称します。
2016年2月29日までは、日本ウェールズ協会の関西支部でした。
東京を活動基盤とする東京本部に対して、おもに大阪を活動基盤として
別々に活動してきましたが、
東北・関東・中部・四国・九州に在住する会員も増えたこともあり、
運営と活動の自由度を高めるため、2016年3月1日に発展的に独立しました。
しかし、東京本部のみとなった日本ウェールズ協会とは姉妹協会として、
ともに日本におけるウェールズの認知度向上のため、
人材交流および情報交換に努めています。
また、他の英国関連団体である 『Kansai St Andrew's Society』
『St George’s Society of Kansai』『日本スコットランド交流協会関西支部』や、
ウェールズの文化・言語などを多角的に研究する『日本カムリ学会』などとも
連携しながら活動しています。
入会金や会費はございませんが、
大阪・梅田に公共交通機関を使って片道1時間半程度で
来られる地域にお住まいの方には、
1家族につき一口1,500円の年間活動援助寄付金をいただいています。
1年目は一口、2年目以降は二口が希望、
また1年目の7月以降にご入会の場合は1,000円を申し受けます。

Kansai St David's Society, Japan is
a non-profit friendship society for the Welsh, those with Welsh ancestry
or simply any nationalities with genuine interests in Wales,
its culture and the Welsh language.
It has been registered as a Loyal Society at the British consulate General in Osaka.
Since it's name is "Cymdeithas Dewi Sant Siapan" in the Welsh language,
it's called “Kansai CDS” in short too.
It was the Kansai Branch of St David’s Society Japan until the 29th Feb. 2016.
But Tokyo headquarters and Kansai branch were independent from each other
in terms of events and finance, and because there had been more members
in Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Shikoku and Kyushu,
Kansai branch split off from Tokyo headquarters on St David’s Day 2016
to obtain more flexibility in operation as an independent society.
However, they work together by exchanging information and mutual communication
to enhance the standing of Wales in Japan.
Kansai St David's Society, Japan also fosters active links with other Britain-related groups
such as: St George’s Society in Kansai, Kansai St Andrew’s Society,
and Cymdeithas Astudiaethau Cymru Siapan
(the Academic Society of Welsh Studies in Japan).
There is no administration nor membership fee, but Annual Activity Support Donation
(1 unit of 1,500 yen) are charged to those who can come to Umeda Osaka
in less than 90 minutes by public transportation.
1 unit for the first year of membership, and hopefully 2 units from the second year.
If you join us after July, 1,000 yen for the first year.
